Child’s Compensation Claim In order to obtain compensation it is necessary to prove that an accident occurred and injuries were sustained due to the fault of someone else.

Even with children’s accidents, the law can at times be complicated. People can even recover compensation in cases where it seems difficult to attribute blame to anyone.

It is therefore, important to seek legal advice to determine whether your child can recover compensation.


To help in this decision, it is important to obtain the following information:
  1. The date and time of the accident
  2. Details of where it occurred
  3. The names and addresses of any witnesses to the accident
  4. If your child was involved in a road traffic accident, the name and address of the driver responsible for the accident and the name of the police station where the accident was reported
  5. If the accident occurred at a school, park, playground or leisure centre, the name and address of the local authority responsible for the location, together with the name of anyone supervising your child at the time of the accident
  6. If the accident was caused by an animal, the type of animal, together with details of the name and address of the owner and whether it was under anyone's control at the time of the accident
